Be Kind & Respectful
Engage with kindness and respect. Avoid snarky remarks, and approach discussions with curiosity instead of confrontation. When replying, focus on the topic at hand without personal jabs.
Encourage Thoughtful Discussions
As conversations become more complex or divisive, strive to contribute more thoughtfully. Instead of oversimplifying, add depth and understanding.
Disagree with Ideas, Not People
When you disagree, address the idea, not the person. For example, instead of saying, "That’s stupid," try, "I see it differently because…".
Avoid Condescending Language
Refrain from sneering at others or talking down to them. Treat all members, including the broader community, with respect.
Assume Good Faith
Respond to the strongest, most thoughtful interpretation of someone’s point, not the weakest one. Assume they mean well, even if you interpret things differently.
Avoid Flamebait & Typical Arguments
Ignore inflammatory comments meant to provoke. Avoid common internet tropes and stay on-topic to keep discussions meaningful.
Make Criticism Constructive
If you have a critique, share it in a way that helps the community learn. A useful comment should be insightful and teach something new.
No Political or Ideological Battles
Avoid using the community for political or ideological fights. This is a space for learning, curiosity, and thoughtful interaction, not debates over worldviews.
Focus on Meaningful Points
In the conversation or content, respond to points that add depth rather than picking the most controversial statement to react to. Look for engaging or intriguing points to discuss.
